It has been a wonderful year with lots of fun and terrific support from our community. Everyone should be proud that our community pulled together and made this last year a complete success. It truly was the party of the century.

THE KITCHEN STOVE
The old wood cook stove was really the heart of the home as so many activities took place in the farm kitchen. The stove was large and stood off the floor on curved iron legs, had a black cast iron top with four or six burners, a reservoir to heat water and a warming oven above the burners, as well as the baking oven.

NOTES ON "CONNECTIONS"
On February 28, 2004, the history book Connections was presented to the public. This book that was looked for with great anticipation has evoked many emotions and comments from its readers. Like most books of its kind it is not without flaws and has a few errors but taken as a whole it has been greeted with favour. As one person said simply, "There is a lot of information in that book." The committee has received letters, e-mails and phone calls and we will share some of those comments. Comments received directly or just overheard have been very enthusiastic.

SAFE BUSINESS METHODS AND GOOD ADVISE
1. Indifferent or careless methods of business produces trouble between relatives, neighbors and friends; creates dissatisfaction with those with whom business is transacted; produces controversy, often blows and even murder.
2. Be sure you are right, then go ahead, should be the maxim of every one who transacts business.
3. Millions of dollars are expended every year in law suits, and lawyers are paid fabulous fees, simply because people do not do business in a business-like way.

Farmers' short rules of arithmetic
1. How to find the number of Tons of Hay in a Mow. - Multiply the length of the mow in feet, by the width in feet, and that by the height in feet and divide the result by 400 if the hay is well settled (or by 500 for new hay) and you have the number of tons in the mow.
