Township of LaVallee
The Heart of Sunset Country – Welcome to the Township of
La Vallee
“A community where people matter and ideas grow!”
A Message from the Reeve
Welcome to our beautiful Municipality where it is my honour and privilege to serve as Reeve, along with a dedicated Council and Staff.
Let the charming, country lifestyle, surrounded by caring neighbours and friends, bring peace and tranquility to your days whether you come for a visit or choose to live here. Enjoy the natural beauty of the winding La Vallee River that zigzags through the Townships of Burriss, Devlin and Woodyatt, forming our Municipality. Take in our picturesque sunsets while boating along the Rainy River which forms six miles of our southern boundary along the Canada/US border.
In the summer evenings, stop at the ballpark to enjoy a slo-pitch game while the children swing and slide at the playground. In the winter, bring out your skates to enjoy the outdoor rink located at the Crossroads Public School and Daycare. Stop by the Devlin’s Corner Store, your one-stop-shop which provides everything you may need from hunting/fishing licences, fuel, groceries and gifts. It is also an LCBO retailer and a depot for parcel pickup.
We have a beautiful, unique Community Hall which has a 250 capacity and can be rented out for private and public events.
Located next to the Devlin Post Office is the La Vallee Volunteer Fire Department where ongoing training is provided. Well maintained cemeteries in Burriss, Devlin and Boxalder provide an abundance of history along with St. Patrick’s Cemetery located on Highway 602.
Farming and forestry were key components in the settlement of this area with some farms passed down through generations and remaining in the same family for more than a century. The spirit of neighbours, working together to create a thriving community is the basis of our existence and continues today.
